Individuals and businesses in Minnesota should take note that the Minnesota Secretary of State has reduced its operations due to COVID-19 for the foreseeable future. Specifically, the Minnesota Secretary of State Business Services division has halted in person filings at its office location in St. Paul. Filings are still being accepted via courier and mail at the drop box at this location. All filers are encouraged to use online filing where possible. Items such as Certificates of Good Standing and initial company formations can be submitted completely online.
Filers should take note that COVID-19 has significantly disrupted usual processing time for items such as amendments, trademarks, and other filings that may require processing by a Secretary of State staff member. Filers should allocate extra time for processing of all filings, including address changes and name amendments. Filing delays and disruptions in other states are also expected, and filers should check with each individual office for additional details.
Virtus Law, PLLC continues to monitor developments in this (and other COVID-19 areas) and will continue to post relevant updates to this website.
